Rehman Malik monitoring operation OPERATION ON IN PAK COLONY, 13 HELD FROM BILAL COLONY

KARACHI, Aug 26: More than a dozen alleged culprits were arrested from Bilal colony, Korangi while major operation is going on in Pak Colony and Rexer Line areas.
The Rangers and police launched a joint search operation in Bilal Colony of Korangi during late hours yesterday. The whole area was cordoned off during the operation. Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik also visited the spot where operation took place against miscreants.
The local residents of Bilal colony came out from their homes and demonstrated against the search operation. They said government conducted operations only in certain areas.
Separately, Rangers and Police blocked all external, internal and major routs in Pak colony and conducted strict operation.
According to LEA, major incidents as well as casualties took place in those areas. All shops were shut in the areas under operation and people remained indoors. The media were not allowed to go in.
The Rangers have been given the authority to shoot-onsight wherever it is needed. They can conduct search operation in any place and arrest anybody without warrants. They have been empowered to break the no-go areas also.
The Sindh Home Department issued a notification to extend the powers of Rangers for another 3 months. The Sindh Government has also given special powers to Rangers and now it can raid any place without search warrant.
